Nutkin Cottage and Drey Cottage are situated one mile inside the Galloway Forest Park on the edge of Kirroughtree Forest and overlook forest, hills and farmland.
Each Cottage is set in their own gardens attracting a multitude of Galloway wildlife. Red Squirrels, which are encouraged by feeding, are frequent visitors throughout the year. Amongst the many other visitors are pheasants and deer.
The different kinds of birds that frequent the gardens are too numerous to mention, but they include woodpeckers, jays, sparrow hawks, flycatchers, siskins, blackcaps and many different species of tits with buzzards overhead. There are feeders in the gardens and we will provide you with the food to keep the feeders full.
People who stay in the cottages spend hours filming the wildlife just outside the windows. The red squirrels are quite tame and have been known to come into the lounge through the patio doors.
The surroundings are so peaceful you can't help feeling relaxed, being an ideal place to unwind.
The cottages are spacious being extremely well equipped and furnished with all bed linen provided.
Both are centrally heated with thermostatic controls so you can set the temperature to your requirements. Both cottages have off road parking for two vehicles.
If you book the Christmas or New Year weeks, you will find the cottages are tastefully decorated with Christmas trees and decorations.
Well behaved pets are welcome at no extra charge.
We have adopted a ‘no smoking’ policy insideboth cottages.
